Homegrown Security Company Ranked in Top 100 Firms Nationwide

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

June 5, 2003
EMC Security, a locally owned and managed security firm, has for the first time been listed in the top 100 security installation firms by Security Distributing & Marketing, a security industry publication.

The company was ranked 76th in gross revenue and 25th in residential installation volume in the industry's only report of the 100 largest electronic security and service firms operating in the United States. The "SDM 100" measures consumer dollars captured by electronic security service providers.

"We're very proud to be included in Security Distributing & Marketing's report, and feel it's a tribute to the effort we've put in over the past five years to being the best in our field," says Vince Raia, EMC Security general manager. "As a regional security company, it's gratifying to be favorably compared with the ADTs and Brinkses of the country."

A joint venture of Jackson Electric Membership Corporation and Walton Electric Membership Corporation, EMC Security began offering local service and monitoring in June 1998. It ended its first year of operation with just 200 subscribers.

In 2002, while U.S. security firms covered by the report averaged a 10 percent increase in customers served, EMC Security's customer base grew 30 percent. The company installed 1,944 new systems during the year, growing to 6,500 subscribers.

During the same period, revenue growth among the majority of security firms covered in the "SDM 100" reported a modest 7 percent, while EMC Security's revenue increased 11 percent.

"Our company is an anomaly in the security industry, because we have not purchased any of our subscribers from other companies. We truly are a homegrown operation," says Raia. "The growth we've experienced is totally a result of offering a product the way the public wants it (no contract for monthly monitoring), offering that product at a reasonable price and backing it up with the same service standards as two well-respected electric cooperatives."

EMC Security is headquartered in Lawrenceville, Georgia and currently provides both residential and commercial security services to more than 7,260 subscribers in the metro-Atlanta/Northeast Georgia area. The firm serves members of the two electric cooperatives as well as the general public.
