Walton Electric Membership Corporation
has been honored with the first Samaritan Business Ethics Award
by Covenant Counseling and Family Resource Center and the Gwinnett
Chamber of Commerce. The presentation was made at this year's
Gwinnett Chamber Small Business Awards Luncheon. Gary Bunce
and Gloria Berry accepted the award for Walton EMC.
The award is designed to recognize businesses that are "doing
the right thing" and to foster heightened awareness of ethical
business practices in Gwinnett County. It's given to a business
that demonstrates strong ethics and integrity toward customers,
employees and the community.
A committee of business leaders, Covenant board members
and a Gwinnett Chamber representative evaluates applicants.
Covenant Board President Barbara Myers commented "Walton
EMC believes in listening to their customers. Customer calls
are answered 24 hours a day. Walton EMC operates with the
philosophy that the customer is given the benefit of the doubt."
"Electric rates are structured to provide the most affordable
rates possible while recovering the cost of providing electric
service. Walton EMC is accountable to their customers since
they are member-owned."
"An active community member, Walton EMC is known for Operation
Round Up, the Washington Youth Tour, the partners in education
program, providing community meeting space and many more efforts,"
said Myers.
Walton EMC is a consumer-owned electric company with 100,000
accounts in ten Northeast Georgia counties between Atlanta
and Athens.
