Walton EMC Communications Efforts Recognized at National Meeting;
Employee Elected President of Professional Association

LOUISVILLE,
Ky. -- Walton Electric Membership Corporation has received several
awards for its member communications efforts in the Cooperative
Communicators Association annual communications contest.
Winners
were recognized for excellence among 663 entries in 45 categories,
encompassing writing, photography, projects and publications. The
awards were presented June 13 during the annual CCA Institute.
"The
contest showcases the best communications projects from co-ops all
across the country and gives communicators who enter valuable feedback
to benchmark their day-to-day performance," said Greg Brooks,
Walton EMC communications coordinator.
Walton
EMC won second place for last year's annual report titled The
Real Power of Membership; third place for Realite,
the monthly member newsletter; and an honorable mention for corporate
public relations writing.
Also
during the Institute, Brooks was elected CCA president for 2004-05.
Currently in his second term on the group's board of directors,
he was last year's vice-president and communications contest chair.
His term as president runs until the June 2005 Institute.
CCA
is a national organization of more than 250 professional communicators
who work for cooperative businesses throughout the United States
and other nations. CCA celebrated its 50 th anniversary last
year.

EMC is a consumer-owned electric company with 105,000 accounts in
ten Northeast Georgia counties between Atlanta and Athens.
