MONROE, Ga. -- For the second
consecutive year, Walton EMC employees have been the top team in
the Walton County Relay
for Life.
The
event held at Walton County's Criswell Park drew more than 1,000
participants, 200 cancer survivors and 42 teams. A record
$160,000 was raised for the Relay with Walton EMC employees turning
in $13,900.
“We
enjoy working to help find a way to cure cancer,” said Boots Hendricks,
who headed the Walton EMC effort. “There's not an employee
here who hasn't been touched by cancer both directly and indirectly
through their family and friends.”
Employees
held a number of events, including cookouts, raffles and the Power
of Hope Motorcycle Ride in their winning effort.
Walton
EMC is a customer-owned electric cooperative with 105,000 accounts
in ten Northeast Georgia counties between Atlanta and Athens.
