MONROE, Ga. – Walton Electric Membership Corporation seeks high school applicants for the 2005 Washington Youth Tour.

Sophomores and juniors who live or attend a school in Walton EMC's service area are eligible to apply for the trip of a lifetime. Along with teambuilding and leadership activities, students have the opportunity to learn more about how their U.S. government operates.

“The Washington Youth Tour was a wonderful experience,” said Karen Ward, a 2004 Youth Tour delegate and student at Brookwood High School. “I have returned with a new passion for my country and our government.”

Entry forms are available by sending an email, calling 770/266-2307 or downloading a form on-line. Forms should be completed and returned to Walton EMC by February 18. Youth Tour participants are selected through a written test and short interview.

During the week of June 16-23, students begin their journey on the Washington Youth Tour, starting in Atlanta witnessing Georgia's government in action at the state Capitol.

Highlights include a luncheon with Georgia's Congressional delegation and trips to the White House, Capital, National Holocaust Museum and Arlington National Cemetery.

Walton EMC is a customer-owned electric company with 107,000 accounts in 10 Northeast Georgia counties between Atlanta and Athens.
