Eligible for Walton EMC's Washington
Youth
Trip

MONROE, Ga. – Walton
Electric Membership Corporation seeks high school applicants for
the 2005 Washington Youth Tour.
Sophomores
and juniors who live or attend a school in Walton EMC's service
area are eligible to apply for the trip of a lifetime. Along with
teambuilding and leadership activities, students have the opportunity
to learn more about how their U.S. government operates.
“The
Washington Youth Tour was a wonderful experience,” said Karen Ward,
a 2004 Youth Tour delegate and student at Brookwood High School.
“I have returned with a new passion for my country and our government.”
Entry
forms are available by sending an email,
calling 770/266-2307 or downloading a form on-line.
Forms should be completed and returned to Walton EMC by February
18. Youth Tour participants are selected through a written test
and short interview.
During
the week of June 16-23, students begin their journey on the Washington
Youth Tour, starting in Atlanta witnessing Georgia's government
in action at the state Capitol.
Highlights
include a luncheon with Georgia's Congressional delegation and trips
to the White House, Capital, National Holocaust Museum and Arlington
National Cemetery.
Walton
EMC is a customer-owned electric company with 107,000 accounts in
10 Northeast Georgia counties between Atlanta and Athens.
