MONROE, Ga.– Walton
Electric Membership Corporation will upgrade electric service for
a few hundred Morgan County customers on Monday, April 18 or Tuesday,
April 19 beginning at approximately 9 a.m.
A
power outage is scheduled to accommodate this work. No customer
should be without power more than three hours, and in most cases
the outage will be shorter. All customers included in the planned
outage will receive information by door card and be affected only
one of the two days.
Crews
will raise the voltage of primary electric lines. During the operation,
linemen will manually switch pole transformers to enable them to
work at the higher voltage.
The
upgrade will improve service, reliability and further decrease the
likelihood of voltage drops and sags. It will also allow
for growth in electrical demand in the area.
Customers
on and adjacent to these Morgan County roads are affected on April
18: Clack Road, Thankful Road and Brobston Lane.
Customers
on and adjacent to these roads are affected on April 19: Brownwood
Road, McNair Lane, Clack Road, Monticello Highway, Confederate Road,
Highway 278 and Dixie Highway.
Customers
should schedule work requiring electrical power around this outage.
Computer work should be completed and saved before the outage occurs.
Residents with homes on wells may want to draw extra water for use
during the outage. Those affected can call Walton EMC at 770/267-2505
if they have additional questions.
Walton
EMC is a customer-owned electric company that serves 110,000 accounts
in ten Northeast Georgia counties with approximately 3,200 of those
in Morgan County.
