Monroe, Ga. – Make plans to attend the 69 th annual members' meeting for the Walton Electric Membership Corporation (EMC) on Saturday, June 18. Activities are planned for the whole family at the Walton County Agricultural Education Center off Criswell Road, south of Monroe, GA.

Walton EMC customer-owners can register starting at 8 a.m. while enjoying bluegrass music provided by Hard Labor. A gospel-singing group, The Calvarymen, will kick off their entertainment at 9.

The first 1,000 customer-owners to register will receive a deluxe Garrity flashlight. Registered customer-owners will also be eligible for door prize drawings, including the grand prize, a refurbished Ford pickup truck.

“Walton EMC had a busy year last year,” said Walton EMC President/CEO Ronnie Lee. “With the increased energy costs, we've been able to keep our rates low without a rate increase. You can hear the full 2004 report at the annual meeting.” Sign language interpretation will be available during the business session.

The exhibitors' tent will feature current information on Walton EMC's programs and services, along with the latest tips on energy efficiency and home security. Operation Sandbox will have an exhibit and will be accepting items for U.S. soldiers in Iraq. Log on to waltonemc.com for a complete list of qualified items.

Athens Regional Medical Center, Davenport Family Chiropractic and Walton Medical Center will conduct blood sugar, blood pressure, cholesterol and prostate cancer screenings at Health Check.

The Oconee Lions Club will also provide vision screening. Customer-owners who drop off used hearing aids and eyeglasses to the Lions Club will receive a free gift from Walton EMC.

Children can also enjoy Walton EMC's annual meeting at Kids' Fest. Children can play on the moonwalk, the giant inflatable slide or watch a puppet show under the tent while eating free popcorn, snow cones, ice cream sandwiches and a Coke.
