Family Fun Planned for Walton EMC Annual Meeting

MONROE,
Ga. – Make plans to attend the 68 th annual members' meeting
for the Walton Electric Membership Corporation (EMC) on Saturday,
June 19. Activities are planned for the entire family at the Walton
County Agricultural Education Center off Criswell Road, south of
Monroe, Georgia.
Members can register beginning at 8 a.m. while enjoying live entertainment
provided by The Madisonaires, a gospel-singing group. Starting at
9, the bluegrass band Lost Horizon will kick-off their entertainment.
The members' business session will begin at 10 to elect new district
directors. Directors represent the members in each district of Walton
EMC's 10-county service area.
"We hope our members will be pleased of our success this last year,"
said Walton EMC President/CEO Ronnie Lee. "Our members can hear
the 2003 report at the annual meeting."
The first 1,000 members who register at the event will receive a
deluxe canvas tote bag. Registered members will also be entered
into a drawing for door prizes, including the grand prize of a refurbished
Ford pickup truck.
The exhibitor's tent will feature the latest tips on energy efficiency
and home security, as well as information on Walton EMC's programs
and services, including EMC Security and Walton EMC Natural Gas.
Athens Regional Medical Center, Davenport Family Chiropractic and
Walton Regional Medical Center will be conducting free screenings
for members at Health Check. Walton Medical Center will also conduct
cholesterol screenings at a reduced price.
Members who drop off used hearing aids and eyeglasses to the Oconee
Lions Club will receive a free gift from Walton EMC.
Meanwhile, children can participate in Kids' Fest, featuring a moonwalk
and a giant inflatable slide. They can also enjoy free snacks including
popcorn, snow cones, ice cream sandwiches and Coke.
Walton
EMC is a member-owned electric cooperative, serving over 105,000
accounts from Stone Mountain to Athens.
