Communications Efforts Recognized at National Meeting; Employee Elected President of Professional Association

Walton EMC recently received several awards for its member communications efforts in the Cooperative Communicators Association annual communications contest.

Winners were recognized for excellence among 663 entries in 45 categories, encompassing writing, photography, projects and publications. The awards were presented June 13 during the annual CCA Institute in Louisville, Ky.

"The contest showcases the best communications projects from co-ops all across the country and gives communicators who enter valuable feedback to benchmark their day-to-day performance," said Greg Brooks, Walton EMC communications coordinator.

Walton EMC won second place for last year's annual report titled The Real Power of Membership , third place for Realite and an honorable mention for corporate public relations writing.

Also during the Institute, Brooks was elected CCA president for 2004-05. Currently in his second term on the group's board of directors, he was last year's vice-president and communications contest chair. His term as president runs until the June 2005 Institute.

CCA is a national organization of more than 250 professional communicators who work for cooperative businesses throughout the United States and other nations. CCA celebrated its 50th anniversary last year.
