Rebate/Incentive
Programs Stay Put for 2005
There
are no changes to rebates and incentives in 2005 for WEMC customer-owners
who install energy efficient measures in their new or existing home.
“We
encourage our customer-owners to make their homes energy efficient,”
said Gary Bunce, vice president of customer and energy services.
“As a cooperative, we want what's best for each individual
customer.”
Homeowners
of new homes can qualify for a refund of the fee for installing
underground electric service if they install electric heat pumps
and water heating. The water heater itself is also eligible
for a separate rebate.
More
rebates are available for installing high tech water heating through
either a waste heat recovery system or a heat pump water heater.
Existing homeowners can also qualify for these two rebates.
In
addition, existing homeowners are rewarded when they change their
space heating or water heater or both from fossil fuel (LP or natural
gas) to electricity.
“Considering
the rampant price increases for gas lately, there's no better time
than now to pull out expensive gas appliances and replace them with
clean, efficient electric models,” advises Bunce.
