Local
Students Display Wiring Skills
 |
Jonathan
Banks of the Loganville FFA chapter works diligently to install
a practical wiring circuit during part of the Electrification
CDE. |
Several
local FFA members recently participated in the Sub-Region FFA Electrification
Career Development Event (CDE) held at Walton EMC. The educational
event gives students the chance to put classroom learning to practical
use.
The
CDE is co-sponsored by Walton and Snapping Shoals EMCs. Students
from both cooperatives' service areas participated, including six
from Walton County.
The
students are given a wiring circuit to install, which includes choosing
the correct materials and wire. In other parts of the event, students
tackle problem-solving exercises and make a presentation on completing
a specific electrical wiring task.
Each
student's work is evaluated and scored. Both individuals and chapters
are recognized for outstanding achievement.
Georgia's
EMCs cooperate with the Georgia Department of Education to sponsor
FFA Electrification CDEs across the state.
