Ceiling
Fan Mounting Tips
- Make
sure the electrical box is steel, braced to a ceiling joist and
approved for use with ceiling fans.
- Mount
at least seven feet from the floor-–eight to nine feet is
best.
- Use
a downrod when mounting on high ceilings to get the fan to the
eight to nine foot level.
- Install
the fan at least two feet away from the nearest wall. Locate in
the center of the room if possible.

If
you begin to install a ceiling fan and see a blue plastic electrical
box, stop-–it isn't strong enough to hold your fan. Use
steel boxes firmly anchored to ceiling joists.
