Energy
Star Appliances Get Tax Break
Don't
miss the October sales tax holiday
House
Bill 559, recently signed into law by Governor Sonny Perdue, gives
Georgians a break on buying energy efficient appliances.
The
bill establishes a state sales tax holiday on October 6-9 for products
that have earned the Energy Star having a price tag of less than
$1,500 bought for noncommercial home or personal use. Other sales
taxes, like local option sales taxes, will still apply.
Products
eligible for the break include dishwashers, clothes washers, air
conditioners, ceiling fans, incandescent or fluorescent light bulbs,
dehumidifiers, programmable thermostats and refrigerators that have
achieved the Energy Star performance levels.
