Energy
Efficiency Programs Announced
Both
homeowners and businesses may qualify
Walton
EMC will pay you to save money in 2006.
For
Homeowners
Homeowners
can get rebates by either building a new all-electric home or changing
out fossil fuel heaters and water heaters in existing homes.
Owners
of new homes can get a refund of up to $500* of the underground
electric service fee by installing electric heat pumps and
water heaters during construction.
On
top of that, each new electric water heater is
eligible for its own $150 rebate. The new water heater must
be a quick-recovery model of at least 40 gallons.
Existing
homeowners get $200 per unit to change out expensive fossil fuel
furnaces and water heaters to more efficient electric heat
pumps and water heaters.
Both
new and existing homes can qualify for rebates by installing high-tech
water heating equipment. Heat pump water heaters
are eligible for a $150 rebate per location and waste heat
recovery units can qualify for $300 per location.
There
are more details and Comfort Homes are not eligible for rebates.
For
Businesses
Both
new and existing businesses can also get in on the rebate action.
If
you're building a new facility for your business, Walton EMC pays
electric heat pump rebates of $100 per ton of installed
capacity and rebates of $150 for each 40 gallon or larger electric
resistance water heater installed.
For
established businesses, switch out fossil fuel furnaces to electric
heat pumps and get $100 per ton of installed capacity.
For each fossil fuel water heater replaced with electric
resistance (40 gallons or larger), get $200.
If
you own a restaurant or other operation that produces excess heat,
install commercial heat pump water heating and
get $500 per ton of installed capacity.
Business
owners should contact a Walton EMC commercial account representative
for more information.
