Want to save energy and help the environment but not sure where to start? Participating in the Change a Light program is an easy way to get going.

It’s as simple as changing a light bulb.

Walton EMC is partnering with ENERGY STAR in the Change a Light, Change the World campaign. And you are the key to its success. Change a Light is a national call to action from the U.S. Department of Energy and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to encourage every individual to help change the world one light–and one energy-saving step–at a time.

At the heart of the campaign is the ENERGY STAR Change a Light Pledge. This online pledge is a simple, but vital method of forming a community of inspired individuals committed to save energy and reduce greenhouse gasses.

By taking the pledge, you commit to change one light in your home to an ENERGY STAR qualified light. The online pledge takes less than one minute to complete. Click on the Change a Light banner above.

Your co-op’s goal is to have 500 customer-owners take the pledge. If we reach that goal, our pledge group will save 141,000 kilowatt-hours of energy and prevent 223,000 pounds of greenhouse gas emissions.

But knowing Walton EMC customer-owners, it won’t be surprising to exceed that goal by a wide margin.
