Incentive
Programs Change Slightly
One
program eliminated for 2007
Walton
EMC’s popular energy efficiency programs are remaining
mostly unchanged for the coming year.
Both
residential and commercial customer-owners take advantage of
these monetary incentives when they install energy efficient
electric equipment in new homes and businesses or change out
inefficient and expensive fossil fuel equipment in existing locations.
“These
programs have taken on a new significance now that natural gas
prices are almost unbearable,” says Howard Turner, WEMC
director of marketing. “Increasing numbers of customer-owners
are changing costly gas furnaces and water heaters to get energy
bill relief.”
The
government mandated increase in minimum heat pump efficiencies
has lead to the end of the residential waste heat recovery
rebate.
“Today’s
electric heat pumps are so efficient that there’s no waste
heat left over to use for water heating,” says Turner. “It
no longer makes sense to install waste heat recovery units in
homes.”
But,
the rebate remains viable for commercial applications,
like restaurants, that generate vast amounts of
unwanted heat.
Besides rebates, Walton EMC offers prime
rate loans to help both homeowners and businesses install more energy
efficient equipment. The loans are also available for security system
installed by EMC Security and
standby power generators. Call us for more details.
