Marathon
water heaters stop embarrassing problem
What if
you smelled rotten eggs every time you opened a hot water faucet?
 |
| What’s missing in this cutaway of a
Marathon water heater? If you guessed the anode rod, you’re right.
But it’s not really missing since Marathons don’t need an
anode rod in the first place. |
The combination
of a steel tank water heater and ground water containing sulfates can sometimes
cause this unpleasant circumstance. The odor results from a reaction between
the water and the anode rod inside the water heater.
Anode
rods in steel tank water heaters are used to prevent corrosion. The anode
rod attracts corrosion that would otherwise attack the water heater’s steel
tank. This reaction can cause a sulfur-type smell in the right conditions.
Thus,
many plumbers refer to the anode rod as the stink rod.
One way
to correct the problem is to remove the anode rod from the water
heater. The bad news is this action voids the water heater’s warranty and makes
it susceptible to leaks.
The best
way to fix this annoyance is to replace the inferior steel
tank water heater with a sophisticated Marathon water heater.
The Marathon’s
tank is made from fiberglass reinforced plastic, so there’s no steel
to corrode. That means no anode rod is needed.Besides
no anode rod to stink, the plastic tank also means you’ll never have
a leak. And that’s not just lip service–the Marathon comes with
a no-leak guarantee.
Parts
is parts
Most steel
water heaters, no matter the brand, are exactly
the same.
Only three
major companies In the U.S. steel water heater
market remain in business. These manufactures make the same water heater
on the same assembly line and then slap a myriad of different brand labels
on the outside.
The lone
exception is the Marathon. It’s unique from top to bottom. And it’s
made in America, where quality and durability
count.
