Round
Up Continues to Touch Entire Service Area
Operation
Round Up is truly an area-wide program.
Just
as customer-owners who support Round Up come from our entire ten-county
area, so do those who benefit.
Here
is the list of the latest organizations approved for assistance by the
15 member volunteer board charged with overseeing the program:
Extra
Special People (Oconee County), an organization serving developmentally
challenged children, was granted $10,000 for their Keeping Camp Alive project.
Hebron
Community Health Center (Gwinnett County), ministering to those with little
hope of getting needed health care, received $5,000 for Project Upgrade.
AIDS
Athens (Clarke County) received $5,000 for their support group and peer
counseling programs.
Rockdale
Cares (Rockdale County), who hosts monthly themed dinner/dances for special
needs people, was granted $2,500.
A
Child’s Voice Advocacy Center (Walton and Newton Counties), providing
abuse victims a child-friendly environment to conduct interviews and medical
exams, received $5,000.
Team
Up Mentoring (Walton County), who provides opportunities for at-risk youth,
was given $2,717 for their summer camp.
Athens
Area Habitat for Humanity (Clarke County) received $1,400 for their Stonehenge
Neighborhood Revitalization Project.
Camp
Twin Lakes (Morgan County) received $5,000 for its 2007 Campership Program.
Clarke
County Mentor Program (Clarke County) was granted $10,000 to grow and expand.
Friends
of Gwinnett County Senior Services (Gwinnett County), providing programs
to benefit homebound seniors, received $9,575 for their Bringing Health & Wellness
Home program.
Besides
these groups, 18 individuals and/or families were helped with various urgent
needs through Operation Round Up.
As you see, Round Up does tremendous
work in every corner of our service area. You can join the excitement by signing
up today. Initial the space on your bill stub when you return your electric bill
payment. It’s just that simple.
