Change
a Light in 2008
Pat
yourself on the back.
So
far, you’ve saved 538,620 kilowatt-hours of electricity, 781,190 pounds
of greenhouse gas and $50,092 by simply changing a light bulb.
Walton
EMC is early in the second year of participating in the Change a Light, Change
the World program sponsored by ENERGY
STAR. The program aims to raise awareness
of how changing just one old-fashioned incandescent light bulb to an energy
efficient compact fluorescent can make a big difference.
That
difference is not only seen in the environment–it’s also seen
on your electric bill.
One
CF bulb can save as much as $40 over its lifetime. Besides saving energy,
CF bulbs also save landfill space and other resources. Typically, one CF
bulb lasts as long as 10 incandescent bulbs.
By
installing CF bulbs, you’ll be out front in helping our country become
less dependent on foreign energy. The newly created Energy Independence and
Security Act will phase out incandescent bulbs over the next ten years.
Even
though we’re only one-quarter through the second year of participation,
we’ve already almost equaled the number of pledges from all last year.
Taking
the pledge is easy. Just click here. You can make a new pledge
or renew your pledg from last year.
Just how many Walton EMC members
does it take to change a light bulb? Hopefully all of them.
