WEMC Employee Softball Tournament to Benefit Troops and Their Families

Join us for our first charity softball tournament on Saturday, Aug. 7, at Coker Field in Monroe.

We're raising money for the Family Readiness Group of the 178th Military Police Company of the Georgia National Guard. The 178th has been deployed to Iraq as well as Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and other locations around the world.

The Family Readiness Group is a support structure that helps both soldiers in the field and families at home by:

          • enhancing the flow of information;
          • increasing the resiliency of soldiers and their families;
          • providing practical tools for adjusting to deployments and separations; and
          • enhancing the well-being and morale within the unit.

The format of the tournament is two pitch. Batters start with a two-two count and are allowed a courtesy foul.

The tournament is open to both men's and co-ed teams. The entry fee per team is $250 with a guarantee of at least two games. The winning team gets its entry fee returned and t-shirts for all team members.

Activities in addition to the tournament include a home run derby, prize drawings, raffles and concessions.
