Apply for service

You may apply for service in one of three ways:
  1. Online Application
  2. Click here for the address nearest you.
  3. Click here for an application by mail.

For existing locations, we can usually provide service the next working day. For locations that have never had electric service before (like a new home), we encourage you to contact us as far in advance as possible. This will allow our engineering and operations to plan ahead and prevent unnecessary delays.

Information Needed to Apply
  1. Name to be shown on the account
  2. Mailing address for the bill
  3. Physical location: any information to help identify the new service location (things like the street or road name, house number, name of the last person to have service there, meter serial number or nearest neighbor)
  4. Phone number where you can be reached
  5. Date service is needed
  6. If you've never been a Walton EMC customer, you may be asked for identification, social security number, driver's license number, name of relatives and the name and address of your employer.

Fees for New Service

  • Membership in the Cooperative- $5.00
  • Account Establishment - $20.00
  • Temporary Service (for new locations) - $75.00

If you ever move off the Walton EMC system, the membership fee will be refunded. Account establishment and temporary service fees are non-refundable.

    Deposits

A security deposit may be required when you apply for service. The deposit amount for residential customers will be determined by their credit rating from our credit reporting agency. The deposits will be charged according to the following credit rating scale:

    Low Score - $300.00

    Medium Score - $150.00

High Score - No Deposit Required

Walton EMC pays interest on your service deposit. (Commercial account deposit is two times the estimated monthly bill.)

    Now You're Ready

Our service personnel will process your service request as soon as possible. If you can't be home, please turn off the main circuit breaker to the structure. In some circumstances, not taking this step may prevent us from turning on the power.
