Operation Round Up Boosts Local Charities by $72,240
Every penny of your donation goes to help those in need. That’s because Walton EMC pays all administrative costs of the program. The program isn’t self-serving; no money can be used to pay electric bills.
Here are the latest beneficiaries of Operation Round Up participants' kindness and generosity:
St. Vincent de Paul Society (Barrow) – $2,000
Funds to help with rent and mortgages of people in dire need.
Barrow Book Partnership (Barrow) – $5,000
Support of their project to put an end to illiteracy by making books more accessible to low-income families.
Spectrum Autism Support Group (Barrow, DeKalb, Gwinnett, Rockdale, Walton) – $7,500
Grant to their camps program for children with autism.
Sunshine on a Ranney Day (Barrow, DeKalb, Gwinnett, Morgan, Rockdale, Walton) – $10,000
Funds to renovate two homes of disabled children in the Walton EMC service area.
Young Women’s Christian Organization (Barrow, Clarke, Gwinnett, Morgan, Oconee) – $3,000
Money to fund scholarships to attend YWCO Summer Girls Camp.
A Kid’s Dream, Inc. (Barrow, DeKalb, Gwinnett, Walton) – $2,040
Funding for the organization’s Kid’s Dream Scholarship that supports disadvantaged youth.
Young Men’s Christian Organization (DeKalb, Gwinnett, Rockdale) – $5,000
Support for their Early Learning Readiness program, a twice weekly reading program for children.
The Path Project (Gwinnett, Walton) – $5,200
Money for at-risk children living in mobile home parks to attend their summer camp.
Healing for the Soul (DeKalb, Gwinnett, Rockdale) – $2,500
Resources to provide clothes, backpacks and supplies for children who have incarcerated parents.
Gwinnett County Habitat for Humanity (Gwinnett) – $10,000
Money to help pay for a pickup truck for the organization.
Walton County Fire Rescue (Walton) – $10,000
Money to purchase active shooter response kits.
Muscular Dystrophy Association (entire territory) – $10,000
Funds for MDA Camp Walk-n-Roll, a summer camp for children affected with the disease.
