How are You Celebrating Earth Day?

As you may know, Earth Day is on April 22nd. This is a day we use to celebrate the Earth and do our best to make it a better place. The first Earth Day happened on April 22, 1970, when Senator Gaylord Nelson decided to start a movement to take care of our Earth. However, the true success of Earth Day was that people like you from all over the country came out to talk about and protect the environment.

Since then, Earth Day has turned into a global holiday and people from all around the world take time to do their part to celebrate every April 22nd.

How should you celebrate Earth Day?

Whether you are an environmental activist or a young child, there are things you can do to make our Earth a better place. Check out some ideas for Earth Day activities below:

Plant a Tree: This is a fun Earth Day activity because it can help you consider how important trees are to our environment and it is a fun activity to do outdoors.

Pick up Trash: Picking up trash is another common Earth Day activity. You can go down to your local or state park and take a walk around and pick up any trash you find.

Turn off the Lights: We aren’t suggesting that you have to go about your day in the dark, but if you remember to turn off the lights when you leave a room every time you leave a room, that can save energy which is better for the planet. This activity doesn’t have to be just on Earth Day either, it is something you can work on year-round to use less energy.

These are just a few ideas of how you can celebrate Earth Day this month, but you can also come up with your own! Remember Earth Day is April 22, so happy Earth Day from Walton Electric. Let us know what you do to celebrate this holiday!
