An array of EMC Security security cameras

Latest and Greatest

Throughout the year, we feature lots of great electronic gadgets and appliances in this blog. We followed up on a few and found some great deals to add to your holiday shopping list.

Home Security Cameras from EMC Security

In July, we told you Georgia homeowners are following a national trend toward installing video surveillance equipment for security and monitoring conveniences. EMC Security (owned by Walton EMC) offers self-monitored indoor and outdoor cameras and video doorbells (https://www.emcsecurity.com/home-security/security-cameras/). Available cameras include features such as free live look-in, two-way audio, high-definition video and night vision. For only $10 a month, you can add a subscription to EMC Security’s video service to store and view anything your camera detects. The best part of this deal: No contract is required, and the service can be canceled at any time without penalty.

A Nest thermostat

Energy-saving Smart Thermostat

Because it can potentially save you significant dollars on your heating and cooling costs, a programmable smart thermostat is the gift you might want to keep for yourself. Several retailers are offering deep discounts on models by multiple manufacturers this month. This includes Google Nest and Ecobee 4 that we featured in June. A smart thermostat can be monitored, set up and managed from a computer, smartphone or tablet that is connected to Wi-Fi. It can turn itself down when you’re away, guide you to energy-efficient settings and provide monthly energy reports.

Robot Vacuum

If you’ve been waiting for the right time to buy a robot vacuum for yourself or as a gift, this is it. Many manufacturers are offering the lowest prices of 2019 this holiday season. To help you shop wisely, Walton EMC put together this helpful list of 10 things you should consider when choosing a vacuum unit.

A Lenovo Smart Clock iwth Google Assistant

Lenovo Smart Clock with Google Assistant

We wrote about this smart clock in April when it was among the newest tech gadgets introduced at the 2019 Consumer Electronics Show. It does more than just tell you the time and wake you up. It can also run your smart home, play your favorite music across your home, manage your schedule and more. The original suggested retail was $80, but you’ll find it available at many stores for $40 this month. It’s a great gift for the tech-minded person on your list.

Opal Nugget Ice Maker

Back in September, we told you about this great countertop gadget for backyard parties that produces “the same chewable nugget ice made famous by Sonic restaurants.” It can even be connected to a smartphone to monitor ice levels and set ice-making schedules. In the summer, it was retailing for around $500, but it’s currently on sale at several outlets for $380. Sure, it’s still a luxury item, but it beats driving to Sonic every time you need a chewable ice fix.
