Criteria

To be eligible to receive a Walton EMC Renewal Scholarship, the following must apply:

  1. You are a previous recipient of a Walton EMC Scholarship.
  2. You are currently enrolled in school as a full time student.

Rules

  1. The number and amount of awards is to be determined by the Walton Electric Trust Board of Trustees.
  2. Each scholarship will be worth $4,000 and will be non-renewable. The award will be paid in two increments, once at the beginning of the fall semester, and one at the beginning of the spring semester.
  3. The scholarship must be used at an accredited college, university or vocational-technical school and will be made payable directly to the chosen school.
  4. Scholarship recipients will be chosen by the Board of Trustees and may be examined by a review committee.

Note: These criteria apply to scholarships to be awarded in 2025 and are subject to change in future years.

  1. Question Responses: Address the following questions/points separately (not in essay format). Do not to exceed 1,200 words total.
    • How did the Walton EMC Scholarship money assist you this past year?
    • What was the most valuable thing you learned at school this year?
    • What experiences have you had this past year that will help make you successful?
    • Describe an obstacle you had to overcome as a freshman to reach a goal.
  2. A copy of your grades for your first year of school. If your grades are not available by the deadline below, please submit them as soon as possible. The rest of the application must still be submitted prior to the deadline.
